I’m now settled in my B&B at Sanquhar for my last night in Scotland. Tomorrow I’ll be staying in Longtown just over the border from Gretna Green.
This time tomorrow night I will have visited 4 of my extreme points, trekked up the highest mountain in the UK and cycled almost 550 miles since I started on the 20th May. I’ve also will have slept in 10 different beds since leaving Llancarfan.
Had a bad nights sleep as I stayed in a Scottish Inn and the noise from the bar went on quite late so tonight I am already tucked up in bed as I write this.
What a difference a day makes, from the Highlands to the Southern Uplands just by crossing the river Clyde, a total change of scenery from yesterday.
Today started off with me going 4 miles out of my way and a very steep hill (2.03 miles long) when I got back on track. It was up and down all the way and I had to suffer the riggers of cycling along a main trunk road, the A76.
I arrived safely though and joined Jan and his sidekick Finn (the “Ben Nevis” mountain rescue dog) for a hearty dinner at a local hotel.
